I'm Offended by Your Reading of this Title by Starlow-FTW I'm Offended by Your Reading of this Title by Starlow-FTW
When did we get to the point where saying "Merry Christmas" was considered offensive? What day is it supposed to be? Labor day?

Come on, people. Not everything is directed towards you personally and meant as a personal attack. If you don't celebrate Christmas because of the religion, God bless you, but how does it offend you? Did I say it just to spite you? Is it part of my evil master plan to subdue all non-Christians? Maybe it was just me trying to be kind. Nah. That's just ridiculous.

If a Jew said to me "Happy Hanukkah" I would respond with that. Maybe I'm not a real American. A real American responds with a lawsuit, am I right? Oh, sorry, I just offended Americans, not that it was hard.

Not everything is racist, not everything is sexist, and not everything is homophobic. People need to grow a slightly thicker skin.

Now, I don't mean that you should go around maliciously attempting to be a jerk and offend people. That's wrong. However, this is directed towards those who worship this new Politically Correct society in which we all live and that which we are all brainwashed to obey without question. It is a little sickening. It goes beyond the whole "Merry Christmas" issue. Everything seems to be offensive. I don't understand it. My friends, ask yourselves why you're offended by something before you fly off the handle. Maybe, just maybe, it is your mistake instead of someone else for a change.

And perhaps, just perhaps, if we can all stop with this nonsense of being offended by every little thing, there'll be a little more peace and unity in the world. I believe in my heart that until we end this PC culture that we have fabricated, there will never be real peace or tolerance in the world.

God bless all of you!

I don't mind people telling me "Merry Christmas." It's not offensive, it's people wishing you a good Christmas and / or what ever other people celebrate. God, now being nice is offensive?! I'll never understand people

I don't get it either.  I see Christmas as something intrinsically valuable to everyone even if you don't believe in the divinity of its Namesake (as I do), so I will tell people "Merry Christmas" because I want to spread the positive meanings, like peace on Earth and good will towards men.  If people are going to be butthurt about that, well, it's been said that censorship is like banning steak because babies can't chew it.  The moral of the story is not to be a baby- if you don't like Christmas, say Happy whatever your holiday of choice is.

Of course, this message isn't just about the whole "Merry Christmas is offensive" thing, it's just that this is something I've been told and other people have been told, so the absurdity is first hand.  I think that the people who whine that we always need to be inclusive are people compensating for the fact that they couldn't sit at the cool kid's table in school.

Thanks for the comment.

You don't wonder why you people get so offended when someone at Target says Happy Holidays?

Fox News just explodes with claims of a war on Christianity when that happens.

Are you sure you're not the ones who are easily offended?

What is it with people and Fox News?  I'm not offended if someone says Happy Holidays, just don't whine that I need to be more "inclusive" when I say Merry Christmas.

Your new theme song. You're welcome. ^u^

In the spirit of political incorrectness, I can call you a sociopolitically-spoiled dickless crybaby with an imaginary nonsense God, right? And you won't even be a smidge upset with that commentary, riiiiiight? :3

Well, sometimes children learn not to touch the stove by being burnt from it first.  Be my guest :)

I'm not offended by it.  You can say whatever you want, but not everything a person says is very wise.  If you're okay with that, then just do whatever you think is right. :P

Being politically correct is abiding by what is considered to be, well, the most correct and least "offensive" opinions or terminology.  Oftentimes what is considered politically correct is only so because they utilize a euphemism to avoid responsibility for something because, you know, we can't hurt people's feewings.  Can't say Merry Christmas, that offends non Christians.  Can't say "illegal immigrant" because that offends illegal immigrants.  Can't take any stance on gay marriage except for supportive, that makes you a bigot.  I'm drawing a blank on a lot better examples I've encountered in the past, but the point is that people are offended over the silliest things that were obviously not said maliciously, hence the politically correct obsession we have.  It's to such a degree that universities are now offering "speech free zones" where people aren't allowed to disagree about anything, where they provide cookies, pictures of cats, and soothing music whenever life gets a little too dang real.  Not that cookies, cats, relaxation, or good music are bad, but this is what our society has actually become!

I was on a youtube the other day, and people thought these British people were saying Korea instead of Career. This one girl replies "That offended me because I'm British" Like what the actual fuck? It's the way you pronounce it and we hear another word. I'm offended by things pointed at me, not something that is what I am. Jesus.

They are.  But the things they're offended over are pointless to be offended over.  At the same time, the things that were intentionally designed to offend are irrelevant to some people.  It's all twisted and backwards.

Yes, so many people get so easily offended it is actually unture.
I remember I got personally attacked and blocked by some American girl because I disrespected the dead.....
All I said was 'photograph belongs to the decomposing corpse buried in some grave yard'

I mean what else was I suppose to say?

'Merry Christmas' is now uncomfortable to say? Does that mean Christmas songs will be censored/rewritten? Or is that too extreme?

Perhaps not government censorship, but if you notice the novelization/commercialization of Christmas songs? Of greetings?  Of the overall spirit of the season?  I'd argue it's a form of unintentional censorship.

I suppose.  I can't call it censorship per se, but it's just for money at this point.  There will come a day when censorship hits full force, though, but for now I think we can rest easy all the while remaining vigilant.

If over-watchful & concerned parents shelter their children while they are growing up, they will end up with useless offspring who don't have independent thought, independent motivation, and will scream bloody murder if you call them on their lack of experience & perspective.

On the news, apparently somebody said "happy Hanukkah." on a train, just having a laugh with his friends. Then a group of people came and beat them up saying, "YOU KILLED JESUS"

In the end a Muslim came to help and got beaten up too.

pfft, I'm not even Christian, but I don't get offended by people saying "Merry Christmas" hell I celebrate it because if you look at it and know your religion. You will find that "God's birthday" would technically be in March not December. I agree though people get offended WAY too easily these days. Its like if you say you're homosexual and someone feels the need to send you things like "OMG YOUR GOING TO HELL! You're sick god doesn't love you I hope you're parents disown you, you piece of shit!" over facebook (yeah it happened to me with almost the exact same words, and they weren't trolling either they were serious). I seriously hope mankind will grow up and finally stop being butthurt over things and stop discriminating.*sigh* one could only hope.
